summer is dawning. the sun is burning bright (or at last as bright as the british summer gets, amiright?) and that means it's festival season. pitch your tent and put on your sun cream, these are some of the hottest festivals to visit this summer:
Reading and leedshome of edgy music, reading and leeds boast some of the best headliners on the circuit. fall out boy, biffy clyro, disclosure, the red hot chili peppers, eagles of death metal, and imagine dragons are all performing there, making it a scalding destination this summer. reading and leeds takes place on the 27th, 28th, and 29th august in reading and bramham park.
download has always hosted some of the best names in rock and metal since it began. this year download mixes some of the best acts in the genre - from black sabbath to iron maiden, korn to rammstein, shinedown to saxon. taking place in donnington park in leicestershire, this promises to be one event not to miss.
virgin media v festival
if pop, rock, dance, and rave get your pulse racing the this year's v festival is one you can't miss. for the festival's 21st birthday it is having one hell of a coming of age party - faithless, rita ora, little mix, justin bieber, rihanna, and loads more - all on one mega line-up. taking place on the 20th and 21st of august there is still plenty of time to book tickets for this staffordshire based festival.
number four on the list? well, it's glastonbury of course! the somerset festival at worthy farm takes place between the 22nd and 24th of june. as per usual, glastonbury sports some of the finest names in rock and folk, with muse, adele, and coldplay headlining this year it promises to be a good one.
t in the park
do you like the red hot chili peppers but don't want to go to reading? if so then t in the park is for you! taking place in perthshire, on the 8th to the 10th of july, this festival has a huge array of artists ranging from a-listers to new acts. stone roses, disclosure, bastille, james bay, the kaiser chiefs, james morrison, calvin harris, and last shadow puppets all promise to make t in the park a festival to remember.
the fusion festival
busted are back to round off the summer at the fusion festival on the 3rd and 4th of september. need we say more? yes? okay - busted are back with tinie tempah, craig david, fleur east, olly murs, the vamps, nathan sykes, and ella henderson. this liverpool festival, at the otterspool promenade, will be one to never forget.
british summer time
the barclaycard presents british summer time festival in hyde park is the festival for alternative music lovers this summer. taking place in mid-july the bst have everything from florence + the machine to massive attack. it also promises jazz legends stevie wonder and carole king performing. out of all of the festivals this one gets us most excited - a great line up and a great festival. of all the festivals this is the longest lasting from the 1st to the 10th july.
wireless gained a name for being the festival for people who love music but hate the mud and the camping. rather than tents and trauma, wireless has comfy beds each night and one hell of a line up to listen to. calvin harris and chase & status headline this london based festival, taking place between the 8th and 10th of july in finsbury park.
isle of wight
last but certainly not least we have the isle of wight festival boasting some of the most legendary names in rock history. for the first time since 1969, the who headline the main stage, with queen and adam lambert to support. for the 15th year since the festival's birth they are celebrating in style. the corrs, sigma, faithless, stereophonics, faithless are all making an appearance. not to mention busted for the second time on this list. the festival takes place between 9th and 12th june.
